One of the main reasons for the can's success is
that consumers prefer their carbonated soft drinks,
beer and lager in cans. This is based on many years
of sound and independent public attitude research
commissioned by the Can Makers.
Tha latest independent research by NOP World has yet
again confirmed that consumers prefer cans, especially
teenagers and young adults.
The results of the research demonstrated that in the
UK soft sector, two-thirds of shoppers over the
age of 15 buy carbonated soft drinks. Of these the
majority of consumers prefer to buy cans. Young people
in particular favour cans with over half of 15-24 year
olds preferring to buy cans of fizzy drinks rather than
other packs.
Half of adult shoppers buy take-home beer and lager,
with most preferring their drinks in cans. The can
4-packs is the most popular pack and, as with soft
drinks, cans are the most popular pack for young
adults-especially large multipacks.
The research also looked at why people prefer cans.
Both carbonated soft drinks and take-home beer
consumers strees that the convenience of the can
plays a major role in their pack choice.
They also feel that cans provide the right amount of
drinks and offer excellent value for the money. This is
especially true for large multipacks which provides the
benefits of a single-serve package with the economy
of bulk purchase.
